Our Lady of La Salette

(1846)

On September 19, 1846, the feast day of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Virgin Mary appeared again; this time in a small village called La Salette. She appeared in La Salette to two small children, they were Melanie Calvat, aged 15 and Maximin Giraud aged 11. The children were amazed to see that The Lady looked very sad and had tears streaming down her cheeks. She folded her arms over her breast. Our Blessed Mother spoke over people swearing, not keeping Sunday has a day of rest and disobeying Gods laws.

Our Lady asked us to pray a lot to save the world. She asked us all to confess our sins, turn away from our evil ways, do penance and pray. In La Salette, Mary pointed out the great blessings and mercy of the holy rosary and begged us: “be reconciled with God”. The apparitions in La Salette is fully approved by the Holy See on November 16, 1851. Maximin died on March 1, 1875 at the age of 40. Melanie lived for many years in various convents in France, England and Italy. She died on December 15, 1904 and was put to rest in Altamura in Italy.
